How to clean your roller garage door

Attempting to clean your door can be an almighty ball-ache because of the surface texture and sheer size/shape of the roller garage door. Here are a couple of tops tips I put together for you.

1. The External Surface

It is better to choose a warm sunny day for cleaning your garage door as it will allow the door to dry quicker.
Ensure that you use a soft sponge when cleaning the external surface of your roller garage door. This will guarantee that you will not scratch any of the paint work causing damage to the appearance of your door.
First of all wipe over the entire surface of your roller garage door with hot soapy water. This will remove all dust and grime resting on the roller garage door surface.
Once this is done rinse down the soapy door with a hose. Attach a spray nozzle for a soft and even spray. This will allow you to remove all soap bubbles and dirt from the door.
If you have any tougher marks to remove first try using hot soapy water again but apply much more pressure. However, be sure to not scratch the paint. If this fails obtain a bleach free kitchen cleaner. As these cleaners are made to remove all types of marks this should do the trick. Spray the cleaning solution onto the mark and allow to soak for a minute or two. The mark should then just wipe away with a damp sponge.
Allow the garage door to dry completely before opening it as this could simply dirty the door all over again.
Once it is dry apply a lubricating oil on to a dry cloth and wipe over the entire surface of the roller garage door. This will help to protect your door against the elements until it is cleaned again.

2. The Internal Surface

It is not as important to keep the interior of your roller garage door however it is nice for it to be dust free. This allows you to store any item in the garage with no worry that it will get dirtied by the roller garage door.
However, rather than using the hose it will be adequate to go over the surface with a feather duster. This will get rid of any large cobwebs and any other dust lying around.

It would also be advisable to wipe over the brackets, hinges and tracks with a duster and then warm soapy water. This will ensure that all the elements of the opening and closing mechanism of the roller garage door are working efficiently. Remove any dust and grime that could cause the tracks/hinges to stick.
